Colorado and much of the West Coast has experienced the most severe wildfires on record in 2020. Earlier this year, we raised funds on a national level to support the wildfire relief, but the situation has become much worse.
The two largest wildfires in Colorado history are now within 30 miles of our brewery. While we are not in any danger, it does make the destruction extremely close to home. Last week, the East Troublesome Fire ripped through Grand County destroying more than 300 homes before jumping the tundra at 10,000 ft and damaging a decent portion of Rocky Mountain National Park. Thankfully, we had a huge snowfall on Sunday that helped slow things down, but so much damage had already been done.
With the help of our friend, photographer Rob Lantz @roblantzphoto, we have created a special edition label with a photo of Moraine Park in Rocky Mountain National Park an especially hard hit area. We are donating $1 for every can of this Special Edition sold to The Grand Foundation. 100% of donations will go to the Grand County Wildfire Emergency Fund, which is supporting the needs of Grand County residents who have been evacuated, displaced, or have lost their homes during the Grand County Wildfires.
We are eternally grateful to all of the first responders and organizations fighting these historic wildfires. Our hearts go out to all those affected, and we are keeping you in our thoughts.
What are Spruce Tips?
A spruce tip is the new spring growth at the end of a branch. The tree hunkers down for winter, but then in the spring they send out tender (and flavorful) new growth. Similarly to how hops can have a wide array of flavor profiles depending on geography, climate, and varieties. Our tips were hand harvested from National Forests in the Rocky Mountains in a sustainable way and with the support of the National Forest Service.
